Billionaire Film Producers List Hollywood Hills Home for Nearly $10 Million

The Bird Streets property offers sweeping views and a quintessential California layout

The Los Angeles-area home of Hollywood power couple Gary Magness and Sarah Siegel-Magness hit the market Tuesday for $9.995 million.

Located in the gated community of Doheny Estates in the Bird Streets area of Hollywood Hills West, the more than 4,500-square-foot residence offers sweeping views of the city and modern interiors.

The property “is a rare find in Doheny Estates, with its design and bespoke finishes, creating a truly unique home where luxurious comfort meets architectural elegance,” the agents said in a statement.

Magness, a billionaire investor and film producer, and Siegel-Magness, a director-producer and head of the couple’s film production company Smokewood Entertainment, purchased the home in 2016 for $6.875 million through an LLC, according to records with PropertyShark. Smokewood’s production credits include “Precious,” the 2009 film based on the debut novel of American author Sapphire, originally titled “Push.” Starring Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique and directed by Lee Daniels, “Precious” won several awards, including an Oscar for Mo’Nique.

The home offers a semi-open layout with custom pocket doors that open to the outdoors, listing photos show. That, combined with the white, art-ready walls, creates the light-filled, indoor-outdoor space so desired in Southern California.

The living room offers a floor-to-ceiling mantel with a television and gas fireplace and flanked by built-ins. A formal dining room is around the corner, and there’s a chef’s kitchen with a marble island and other bespoke marble finishes, two dishwashers, two sinks and a pantry.

There are four bedrooms and five bathrooms, with a primary suite that offers a custom-designed, Saint Laurent-inspired dressing room, as well as two additional walk-in closets; a marble bathroom with heated floors, a steam shower and spa tub; and a private terrace.

Last year, Siegel-Magness—also a champion polo player—listed her waterfront polo estate in Carpinteria, California, for $50 million. Known as the Concha De Estrellas, or “field of the stars,” the 61.2-acre estate offers two polo fields, 100 covered horse stalls and walking and riding trails with direct access to the beach and neighboring polo fields.

Magness, whose father founded cable company TCI, has an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion, according to Forbes.
